Cut 3 ft rods to 1 ft from 3 ft lengths; then insert rods 8-10 inches deep, spacing is 1 ft apart.
Using 3 ft long rods and 2 rods per foot:
75 ft length- 25 living rods 3 ft long
150 ft length - 50 living rods 3 ft long
300 ft length – 100 living rods 3 ft long
