Growing and making woven artifacts from the willow farm fields is a direct and personal way to appreciate the value of simple hard work.

On our organic artisan farm we have established 13 acres of 1 million willow plants in 80 different varieties, which in turn will find their way into my baskets, garden structures and living projects. I use basic metal tools of billhook, knife, shears and awl to harvest and create wonderfully useful articles for personal living. In farming willow, I witness the full cycle of growing, harvesting, and processing the willow rods. This cultivation provides an appreciation of willow’s wonderful color, texture, tensile strength, delightful smell and magical properties of intensive growth.
